BJ off-roaders with military roots
Founded in 1958 · Headquarters: Beijing
BAIC is Beijing’s state car group, once maker of the military BJ212. The BJ off-roaders carry on that line and are sold in Kazakhstan and Russia.
The BJ40 is a compact body-on-frame off-roader with a removable roof, a 2.0T turbo engine, an eight-speed automatic and part-time four-wheel drive.
A ladder frame, a solid rear axle and a low-range gear.
A petrol turbo with enough pull for off-road work and towing.
The roof panels and doors come off, turning it into an open-top off-roader.
