How to find a genuine part by VIN

What the 17 characters of a VIN encode, how to use them to find a part for your exact version of the car, and what it costs delivered.

ЛОГИН - АВТО editorial team

A single model of Chinese car often comes in several versions: different engines, drivetrains, trims and model years. Parts may look alike, but mountings, connectors and dimensions can differ. The most reliable way to order something that fits is to search not by photo or model name, but by VIN.

What a VIN encodes

A VIN is 17 characters of Latin letters and digits. The letters I, O and Q are never used, so they cannot be confused with one and zero. Each group of characters carries its own information.

PositionsMeaningExample
1–3ManufacturerL6T — Geely
4–5ModelMJ — Monjaro
6Version and drivetrainA — 2.0T AWD Flagship
9Check digit5
10Model yearS — 2025
11–17Plant and serial number0456789

The ninth character is a check digit. It is calculated from the other sixteen, so a typo is almost always caught straight away: our search tells you which rule was broken — length, an invalid character or the check digit.

Searching step by step

  1. Find your VIN: it is on the registration certificate, on the plate in the door opening and under the windscreen.
  2. Enter it into the search on the parts page. Case and spaces do not matter — “l6tmjacb5s0456789” works too.
  3. Check the decoding: manufacturer, model, year and version should match your car.
  4. Choose a category — filters, suspension, body, lighting — and open the compatible parts.
  5. On the part page, compare the OEM number and check compatibility with your car.
  6. Set the quantity and your city: the total price includes delivery straight away.

Example: Geely Monjaro

Take the VIN L6TMJACB5S0456789. The search decodes it as a 2025 Geely Monjaro in 2.0T AWD Flagship trim and shows parts that fit the 2024–2026 Monjaro. Here are a few items with the price delivered to Almaty:

PartOEM numberDeliveredLead time
Oil filter, 2.0TGLY-1012010-JL₽4,39014 days
Front shock absorberGLY-2905100-MJ₽24,60028 days
Radiator grilleGLY-8401300-MJ₽41,50021 days

The filter and the grille are in stock; the shock absorber is ordered in, so its lead time is longer. All three are genuine parts carrying the manufacturer’s number.

The gap between a part’s price and its delivered price depends on its size and weight: an oil filter travels in a small parcel, a radiator grille in a large box. So for small consumables it pays to combine several items into one order, and large body parts are best ordered together.

Common mistakes

  • Ordering from a photo or by model name without taking the year and version into account.
  • A VIN copied with a mistake: check it against the documents, not from memory.
  • An OEM number from another car of the same brand — on similar models it can differ by a single digit.

It is worth saving the OEM number. Next time you can find the same part by it straight away — the site search understands OEM numbers, including without dashes and spaces.
