Range-extender hybrids, 800 volts, body-on-frame hybrids, three-row family cars and technology partnerships — which directions are already visible in Chinese brands’ ranges.

Buyers often ask whether to wait for new models or buy now. Only the manufacturer can say for sure which models will appear. But the directions in which Chinese brands are developing are visible today — in how their ranges are built. Let us look at five of them, using cars from our catalog.
Li Auto built its entire SUV range on the EREV layout, and Changan and Leapmotor offer range-extender versions alongside electric ones. Our catalog already has four EREVs and six other hybrids. The most affordable EREV is the Leapmotor C10 at ₽1,470,000, with 210 km on electricity. When a brand releases one model in both electric and hybrid versions, it usually means demand for both is steady.
Every Zeekr sits on the 800-volt SEA architecture, the Li MEGA takes up to 500 kW at a charger and the XPeng G6 up to 280 kW. Of the seven cars in our catalog that charge at 200 kW or more, the most affordable is a 2024 XPeng G6 at ₽1,880,000, but five of the seven cost over ₽2.5 million. Such technologies usually move into more affordable models over time, but how fast depends on the manufacturer.
Tank has combined a classic body-on-frame off-roader with the Hi4-T plug-in hybrid. The Tank 300 delivers 300 kW and about 105 km on electricity, the Tank 500 255 kW and about 110 km. For buyers who need genuine off-road ability, this is a new class of car, and it is already available.
More and more brands are betting on large family cars. The Li L9 is a six-seat EREV, the Li MEGA an electric minivan, the GAC ES9 a plug-in hybrid with three rows and individual chairs in the second row. For families with children, the choice of such cars from China is already wider than it was a few years ago.
When choosing such a car, price it turnkey: large hybrids pay noticeably more customs than electric cars of the same value, and the turnkey gap can end up larger than in China.
New brands are increasingly built around partnerships with technology suppliers. Avatr uses CATL batteries and Huawei electronics; Zeekr shares chassis and safety engineering with Volvo and Polestar. For the buyer this means proven components even from a young marque.
